The story revolves around a species of characters known as Munrungs. This led to his first book, The Carpet People, being published in 1971. Pratchett continued his writing through school and once he had left. He cited this as the real way of ‘getting an education’, rather than what he learnt in school. At this young age, Pratchett developed an interest in astronomy and science fiction. He was a member of his school’s debating team, as well as a contributor to the school magazine. Terry started his career in 1968 when he wrote the book ‘Carpet book’ which was later followed by the science fiction novel ‘The dark side of the sun’ in the year 1976.

He later developed interest for science fiction but later stopped when he got his first job. He was mainly interested in astronomy during his early age though he lacked mathematics skills. This experience credited his education to the Beaconsfield library. Back in school he was a member of the debating society and wrote articles for the school magazine. He was born in the year 1948 April 28 to David and Eileen Pratchett. Terry Pratchett is the pseudonym for the novelist sir Terence David John Prachett who hails from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England.
